However, like all natural materials, wood needs a minimum amount of care in order to retain its beauty over decades. Fittings will also be grateful for a little maintenance and thank you in return with long life and a problem-free functioning.

We give you tips on suitable care for your windows and doors and also offer you a high-quality maintenance set. Should you prefer us to carry out the maintenance or make the necessary repairs, simply contact us. We will gladly come to your home.

What wood will thank you for

Wood is, by nature, very robust and resistant, but similar to living trees, it likes fresh air and is sensitive to too much humidity, which can result in condensation and lead to mould, spores or spots.

The best remedy against these problems is regular, short airings, preferably several times a day. And, by the way, airing is not only beneficial to your windows, doors and any other wooden furniture, but also to your own health.

Airing becomes especially important during the construction phase of a building and also while you cook or take a bath, because it is then when most humidity is generated.

Our maintenance sets help you protect all wooden parts against damage from sun, heat, rain or snow. We suggest you clean your windows regularly (2 – 4 times per year) and then treat the outside with KAPO Protective Lotion.

Tip: Air all rooms every morning for 20 – 30 minutes, especially the bedroom.

When surface damage occurs

Should wood surfaces suffer damage from external causes, make sure you repair it as quickly as possible. Minor damage can easily be remedied with the ‘First Aid Bottle’ we supply you with when we deliver the windows.

When varnish on windows begins to be affected by weather, it should be renovated. Our service team will gladly assist you in this or you can follow the instructions contained in our maintenance brochure, which you can download here.

Tough security

We only use fittings of excellent quality, functionality and resilience and which require little maintenance. However, over time, changes in temperature can result in windows and doors not closing tightly enough.

Should this occur, you can easily adjust the movable parts of fittings by following the operating instructions. In addition, all movable parts of the fittings should be oiled regularly.

The set also includes a small ‘First Aid Bottle’ with varnish in the original colour of your windows, which will enable you to repair minor surface damage.
